Picking Favorites

By looking at my feed, you can tell that I have a certain favoritism in the types of photography I do. That favorite happens to be senior portraiture- WOW shocker..I know;) But what makes this type of photography stand out to me?? That's a good question. There are like 5 billion types of photography. There's newborn, family, wedding, street, nature... a whole realm of options. But my favorite lies between two walls that make up a hallway, behind the college applications and ACT scores. What I like about senior portraits is the fact that-----

1.IT'S A RELATABLE TIME OF YOUR LIFE

I'm a senior too, so I understand what you're going through and can connect with you on a personal level. It makes it not so awkward to work with someone your age- a benefit for both client and photographer.

2.THERE'S NO PRESSURE

Okay, yes there is pressure. There's pressure anytime someone is paying you and expecting you to meet their expectations. But I'm talking about the pressure in the atmosphere of a shoot. For example, weddings are beautiful don't get me wrong, but most of your reputation relies on getting the shot of the kiss. There's a lot more to it, but it's SO much pressure in that moment. You literally can not miss it because there are no do-overs. With seniors, you can just go with the flow. I'm less stressed, and my client is less stressed too. There's more freedom, but there's also more control at the same time.

3.I AM SHOWCASING WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE

Everyone has their own little quirks that come together to make them who they are. My job is to capture that. I get to take pictures of you with things related to your hobbies, style, and personality. This makes it all about you and this amazing time in your life...even if you're only doing this because mama wants these pics for her photo album. This is honestly the MOST personalized shoot. It's totally specific to you, and I'll NEVER have another shoot just like yours. I promise.

4.I GET TO MEET UP WITH SO MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF PEOPLE

Not to mention a lot people that I know and haven't seen in 4EVER. But because your true self is projected with these photos, I get to learn what makes you you. Geek, country boy, cheerleader, football player... you name it! There are so many different types of people that I get to connect with on a personal level, and this interaction is probably one of my favorite things about my job.
